In 2016, two years after the opening of the Mountain wave in the Kananaskis, Alberta we noticed that the bank beside the wave was eroding due to overuse. We worked with the provincial parks department to secure a permit to build a surf deck. The deck protects the slope, protects the forest and provides a safe viewing area for spectators and surfers.
Surf Anywhere conducted the government relations in the project, applied for the permit and coordinated design, drawings and construction. The final product was a well constructed deck that dramatically reduced further bank erosion and soil compaction, strengthened the relationship between surf community and Parks and and provided an excellent community builder project for the local surfers. The project relieve heavily on the generous donations of time, money and materials by the local Alberta surfer community.
